Nikkah Date
Privacy Policy
Last updated: 9 August 2026
Nikkah Date is a faith-centred Muslim marriage initiative. Your search for a spouse is an amanah, a trust, and we treat your information the same way. This policy explains what we collect while we are in our pre-launch waitlist phase, why we collect it, and the choices you have. It is written to be read, not skimmed past.
Who we are
"Nikkah Date", "we" and "us" refer to the Nikkah Date initiative. You can reach us about anything in this policy at salam@nikkahdate.me.
What we collect
When you join the waitlist, we ask for:
- Your full name and email address.
- Your country.
- If you choose to answer the optional quiz questions: whether the journey is for a brother or a sister, an age band, the values that matter most to you in a spouse, and whether you are joining as someone seeking marriage, a parent, or a contributor (volunteer, mentor, scholar, counsellor or masjid partner).
If you subscribe to updates through the newsletter form, we collect your email address only.
We do not ask for, and you should not send us, payment card details, government identification, or information about anyone other than yourself (parents joining on behalf of a child should have that person's consent).
How we use it
- To hold your place on the waitlist and contact you about early access.
- To send honest progress updates about Nikkah Date.
- To plan where and for whom we launch first. Aggregated answers (countries, age bands, roles) shape our launch decisions.
- To respond when you write to us.
We do not sell your information. We do not show your information to other members. There are no public profiles during the waitlist phase.
Where your information lives
Waitlist and newsletter entries are stored in a private Google spreadsheet accessible only to the Nikkah Date team, using Google's infrastructure. When a new entry arrives, an automatic notification email containing the entry is sent to our management team.
Cookies and local storage
The site does not use advertising cookies. We use your browser's local storage for one thing: remembering that you have already joined the waitlist, so the form does not ask you twice. You can clear this at any time through your browser settings.
Donations
If you choose to support Nikkah Date financially, payment is handled entirely on the hosted pages of our payment providers (Paystack for Naira payments, Stripe for international payments). Your card details go to them, not to us, and their own privacy policies apply to the payment itself.
Third-party communities
Our WhatsApp and Telegram communities are operated on those platforms under their own terms and privacy policies. Joining them is optional.
How long we keep it
We keep waitlist information for as long as we are building towards launch and you remain on the list. If you ask to be removed, we delete your entry.
Your choices and rights
- You can ask us at any time to show you, correct, or delete the information we hold about you. Email salam@nikkahdate.me from the address you signed up with and we will act on it.
- Every update email includes a way to unsubscribe. Unsubscribing from updates does not remove you from the waitlist unless you ask for that too.
- Depending on where you live, data protection law (such as the UK and EU GDPR or the Nigeria Data Protection Act) may give you additional rights, including the right to complain to your local data protection authority. We honour access, correction and deletion requests from everyone, wherever you are.
Age
Nikkah Date is strictly for adults aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has submitted information, contact us and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes in a way that matters, we will update the date at the top and, for significant changes, tell waitlist members by email. The current version always lives at this address.
